WTF podcast 9/30/18 - left to right: Ray Carr, Dan Menningen, David Grayson. Bottom - left to
right: Joe Gunselman, Carmen Angelo.
Worst To First is a new, live podcast from Gunselman's Tavern. The Podcast will feature two veteran broadcast professioals - Carmen Angelo (The Executive Producer for the Mike Trivisonno Show) and Ray Carr (The Cleveland Renaissance Man and long-time radio host), along with a cavalcade of local celebrities to chew the fat with these two talk show emcees. Worst To First (or WTF or short) starts with the premise that The Cleveland Browns could go from the worst team in the AFC North to the Best team in the AFC North, pending a series of unfortunate events for the rest of the division (untimely injuries, scandal, misconduct or just shear magic), along with the elevated play of the most talented group of Brownies (on paper) since the 11-5 Kardiac Kids of 1980. The show airs from 11AM-1PM (or two hours before game time) every Sunday. Great Lakes Brewing Company has agreed to be the title sponsor for Worst To First. There are weekly GLBC giveaways, and a free raffle ticket with a chance to win the Grand Prize of Dinner for 4 and a private brewery tour at GLBC will be given to purchasers for every Great Lakes Brewing Company draft beer you buy at Gunselman's on any given Sunday during the NFL Season.

Ray you are awesome! You know how to make an interviewee feel comfortable and want to talk and share. It felt great tp be interviewed by you! You have that special gift, and I now completely understand why so many celebrities are standing in line to be interviewed by you. Thank you so much for asking me to be on your show!

My old friend and fellow baseball coach came last Tuesday to visit and speak to the Lakewood Kiwanis Club at our weekly lunch meeting. Not only was Ray educational and entertaining, but he did a very good job of engaging the membership in light banter and gave witty answers to our many questions. What a great experience it must have been to interview the multitude of guests he spoke of in his 30 minute PowerPoint presentation. As professional as Ray was, he stayed after our lunch meeting to socialize and continued to answer questions that the members continued to ask. Thanks Ray.

We were recommended to Ray by a close friend of ours and we were SO HAPPY we did! Ray was absolutely excellent from song selection, preparedness, and his stellar professionalism. Just listen to this guy talk, you'll want that voice at your wedding as well! We met with Ray about a month before the wedding to review songs, first dances, proceeding, and requests. We were totally comfortable and confident having him at our wedding so we didn't need to worry about the music or announcements, it was time to for us sit back and relax. Ray was able to read the crowd and choose songs which incorporated our requests and were appropriate for the crowd (like if people were going strong on the dance floor or if many needed to catch a breath). Our guests all had a fantastic time! I would absolutely have Ray at our wedding or event again without hesitation, and I know you will too.

Can’t thank you enough for doing us the honor of being the DJ at our wedding celebration! We really appreciate the time you took to work with us in picking out just the right songs, setting just the right mood and keeping things lively and entertaining throughout the whole celebration! Your suggestions were great and all of our guests couldn’t say enough about what a great time they had and that it was one of the best wedding parties ever. You have our recommendation to anyone who likes excitement and a great party. Thanks again so much and keep on ROCKING!!
All the best,
Connie & Jeff

Ray Carr does a tremendous job as an emcee and/or DJ for a wide variety of special events. His wit and humor bring laughs every time. Ray is outstanding at announcing local sporting events and he does a great job spinning music for all any age groups at dances and special events. He served as emcee for the Fairview Park Summerfest Rotary 5K race and got everyone ready to run! He did a great job from set-up to clean-up, We will definitely use his services again.

Great DJ! Ray managed to wrangle our somewhat not-so-organized group for introductions, got the party started and kept it going all night! Played all the right songs to keep our feet on the dance floor for a perfect wedding.

First and foremost, my wife Erin and I want to Thank You so much for being a major part of making sure our wedding day was amazing! From our first meeting to discuss the music for the reception to the days prior to making sure we had everything squared away for audio during the celemony if it was to be outside (weather did not cooperate) and setups needed during the reception for introduction and toasts, nothing could have gone smoother. Your prefessionalism during every step and throughout the evening at our reception was top notch. Your attention to our desires and guidance of how the evening should flow was right on point. Without your direction through the night, our wedding reception couldn't have gone as great as it was! We definitely want to recommend you to anyone ever looking for a DJ for any event from wedding to charity, your on-stage presence in front of a large group of people was everything we expected for a great time! Again, Thank You, Ray, for being a key contribultor to an amazing day and evening we will never forget!
With Great Appreciation,
Chris & Erin Kubovcik

Thank you! We had such a wonderful time.
You were wonderful to work with - professional, timely, fun - you took our style and song choices into consideration and also were great at reading the crowd!
We had so much fun - dancing was one of my favorite parts. I especially loved when you announced everyone in the beginnig (that was a hit!) and also when you played my favorite song, "Happy" by Pharrell, and announced that it would make the bride happy if everyone danced to it :)
We had a great time and hope you did too!
Thanks for all your hard work and time. We felt blessed to have you!

Thank you for the wonderful job you did at our wedding on October 18! We’ve gotten so many compliments on how awesome our DJ was & what a fun time people had at the reception. The dance floor was never empty! You went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. We were so happy that you were able to play our slideshow of pictures during our first dance as a couple, the mother/son dance and father/daughter. It was such a relief to know that we had a professional DJ working for us. We didn’t have to worry about a thing during the reception! Thank you so much for everything Ray! It was definitely a night to remember! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for a DJ! Thanks again!!

September 19, 2014Ray Carr was our first choice as master of ceremonies and DJ for our wedding reception! We have worked with Ray before with Cleveland’s Blondes vs. Brunettes women’s flag football fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. The charisma, professionalism, experience, and personality he displays for the Blondes vs. Brunettes game as the announcer is a fan favorite, and I knew his skills would translate well to working as a DJ for our wedding reception. Ray was very helpful and responsive in helping us craft a wedding reception that met our goal of being “different” than the traditional, formal, sit-down reception. While Ray could certainly deliver on that standard approach, we wanted a reception that was more interactive, less stuffy without formal seating or meals and only hors d'oeuvre (essentially we wanted to throw a party with drinks, food, and dancing).

On behalf of the Cleveland Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, thank you for generously volunteering your time and talents to serve as the play-by-play announcer, deejay and host of Cleveland’s Blondes vs. Brunettes (BvBCLE) women’s flag football game. Since our inaugural game in 2012, it has been a privilege to have your professionalism, great follow-through and clever and crowd-pleasing humor as part of our event.
Every year the BvBCLE players, coaches and spectators give stellar reviews about the entertainment and excitement you add to our competitive game day atmosphere. Our sponsors are also pleased with the verbal recognition you give them throughout the game.
From pre-game preparation to the post-game handshake, your commitment to the event and the cause is appreciated by the players, coaches and committee members who also donate their time to fight Alzheimer’s. Thank you for all you do to help us deliver winning results with more than $120,000 raised to date for free programs and services and research to find a cure!

My husband and I were married on April 26th, and we had the pleasure of having Ray Carr as our DJ. Ray was an absolute professional during our wedding planning experience. Not only did he guide us on typical wedding protocol, but he also offered tons of invaluable experience. It’s evident that his 30+ years in the wedding business are well-earned. Ray has a natural ability to read any crowd. I don’t think there was a time that the dance floor wasn’t filled with people! Ray was even playing tunes that inspired our crowd to lift the groom up joyously in a crowd-surfing spectacle. He’s that good!
Ray also kept in close contact with us throughout our wedding planning experience, and did not leave a single detail untouched. In fact, there were several times Ray called to make sure we were on the same page with song choices, the order of events, and other fine minutiae I missed. When things did not go exactly as planned during our ceremony (they never do!), Ray was able to discreetly cover up our mistakes. Ray truly thinks on his feet, a crucial trait for a wedding DJ to possess.
Many of our guests also commented that we had the best music of any wedding they attended, which is a wonderful thing to hear. While we did supply Ray with a playlist, we also gave him free reign to play songs of his choosing. His collection of music is astounding, and his knowledge of all musical eras will easily accommodate all wedding couples and other events
Ray Carr comes highly recommended! His skills and expertise are unrivaled. He promised us an awesome wedding experience, and he definitely delivered. Bravo!

To Whom It May Concern,
I would like to highly recommend Mr. Ray Carr as a Disc Jockey for any event. Ray has the ability to keep an event moving with high energy. His musical selections please both young and old and the dance floor is never empty. Ray is well organized and professional, yet is very flexible. He plays every request and also makes impromptu announcements willingly and smoothly.
Ray's hula-hoop and limbo contests are a joy for everyone. His humor and good-natured manner insure a fun time for all.
I have employed Ray as a disc jockey on two occasions, and I have been extremely pleased both times. I enthusiastically recommend Ray Carr as a Disc Jockey. Please feel free to contact me should you need any further information.

I just wanted to thank you for everything you did for our wedding reception on March 15th! The night went so smoothly, and that is mostly because of your great planning and organization! We received so many compliments about the selection of music that was played throughout the night, how everything flowed so well, and, specifically, how great the DJ was. Jes and I had a wonderful experience working with you, and we recommend you to anyone we know who is needing a DJ! Hope all is going well, thank you again!

I wanted to thank you for your DJ services that you performed for our wedding in October. When we were getting all the other things arranged for the wedding, it was calming to know that we had the music taken care of. When the day came, you were nothing but a professional. We were set up outside, and when it started to hail outside, I saw you bringing in your equipment and going with a backup plan you already had, and I didn’t even know you had this. It ended up being outside, and you were ready. From the time we entered the hall for the bridal introductions to the last song, it was all great. We supplied you with a request list and it was all played with great execution that only a pro could do. The wedding ended early on our part, and you made sure that the songs you played kept the crowd on the floor. It was the first wedding I have been to were the dance floor was never empty! And it was mine! The guests all wanted to know where we found you, and they were very impressed by your talent. Once again, thanks for your AWESOME SERVICE.

Your generous donation of time and talent has helped to create a successful fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Cleveland Area Chapter. It is a privilege to have you serve as our game day announcer, DJ and host for the Blondes vs. Brunettes women’s flag football game. The players and coaches hone their fundraising and football skills prior to the much anticipated event day. Once the big day arrives, they look to you to parallel the excitement on the field with your pre-game music to pump up the teams, player and coach introductions, play-by-play announcements, and color commentating.
Our sponsors are also pleased with the “on-air” recognition you give them throughout the game. Your humor, coupled with your genuine care and concern about our cause, shines through everything you do, resulting in a fun and meaningful day for the participants, sponsors and fans alike.
We literally look to you to put on a one-man show from the press box! We have a winning recipe for continued growth in game day attendance and revenue with your talents behind the microphone. We look forward to having you back for the 3rd annual Blondes vs. Brunettes event.

Dear Mr. Carr,
Sherie and I had a great time during our recent wedding reception. Having the opportunity to spend time with all our friends and family at the most special event of our lives was a fantastic experience. Everything went according to plan, and you were a vital part to that plan.
We had a great feeling about working with you after our initial meeting. Your immense knowledge of music, spanning several genres and time periods, is very impressive. Equally impressive is your large collection of music. Your knowledge and vast collection of music would be assets to any future events.
We would be more than willing to ask for your services for any of our future events that would require them. Not only were you responsive during the lead up to our wedding, you also did me a personal favor by getting me in touch with a contact of yours in a non-related matter. That personal touch was above and beyond our expectations. You actually care about helping your clients, and it shows.
You were a consummate professional. We cannot say enough concerning how pleased we were with your performance, and would highly recommend you to anybody.

I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for donating your time, equipment and your DJ voice for WCSB during Cleveland State University's "Open House" on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Thanks again for all you do for WCSB!

Ray Carr worked in the Athletic Office at Rocky River High School from January, 2013 - April, 3013. He did an outstanding job, and was always very thorough and punctual with his work. Ray was a consummate professional in his "public" duties as a basketball announcer for both our boys and girls basketball teams. He also served as an announcer for our Community College Challenge charitable game.
In addition to Ray's "public" duties, Ray did great work behind the scenes in the Athletic Department, where he was a great asset in helping to input and cross-check athletic schedules for the 2013-2014 school year. His work was very thorough, detail-oriented and accurate.
Lastly, Ray was given the task of evaluating our outdoor sound system in the stadium, and helping us find a solution to repair and improve the quality of our sound for our outdoor events. Ray worked with several contractors and found a very suitable, sustainable solution to repair and improve our outdoor environment.
Ray is a conscientious and hard worker. He helped make Rocky River Athletics better from his work.
Wedding day: November 10, 2012
My husband and I just got married in November. All the planning you do for one day is so stressful and you just hope things go right. A lot of times you go to weddings and the sign of a great reception is the DJ. We have been to a few weddings and the DJ’s have not been the greatest and we had heard too many horror stories. When we booked our venue we were recommended right away to DJ Ray and were told how fabulous he is. We took a chance and I called Ray up and we set up a meeting to talk about specifics. The minute we got done with the meeting I called my husband and said we had out DJ and I did not want to look for anyone else. The whole time leading up to our wedding Ray would check in to make sure everything was still on schedule and to get our song list. He was so professional every step of the way.
Fast forward to our wedding day. Ray was such an amazing addition to our wedding. He felt like he was a guest as opposed to just our DJ. Ray played the songs we requested and any song our guest wanted to listen to. His choice in delivery of the music just flowed so well and got the crowd dancing the whole time! There was not one time that there wasn’t a crowd on the dance floor! Ray even took time out to get into the photobooth to give us a picture to remember him by. Ray is so amazing at what he does and anyone who has him at their event should not worry about a thing. I just recently had a friend get engaged and my first advice to her was to get in contact with Ray because without a good DJ it just is not a party. For any event that we have that needs a DJ we will be calling Ray right away! We are so lucky that we had Ray recommended to us and we will recommend him to anyone we know. Thank you Ray for making our day just that much more special! Everyone is still talking about how awesome our reception was and what a fabulous DJ we had! Thanks Ray! We now consider you a friend!!!!!

We are writing a very special thank you letter for the completely wonderful service that you provided for us on our wedding day. When you get married, you plan and plan and then hold your breath that it all comes together. We can honestly say it was the best day of our lives and we owe so much of it to you. You did an amazing job hosting our event. You played everything we asked for (and our guests), and we soon realized that we did not need to worry about making sure things were going smoothly because you had it under control. We loved that we were able to relax and actually have fun with our family and friends.
We appreciate your professionalism; you showed up in plenty of time, looked professional, and you respected our request to keep everything going in a timely fashion. But most of all, you allowed us and all of our guests to have the most enjoyable night. The music was great and your stage presence was impeccable; many people said you were the best DJ they have ever heard. We have been to many parties where the DJ was awful and it ruined the whole night. We can do nothing but sing your praises.
Rest assured we (my family and many of our guests) will call you for any future parties. For the many years to come when we look back on our wedding reception, we will always remember how you helped make our evening so special and so memorable. From the bottom of our hearts - we thank you.

"I wanted to thank you for becoming the voice of the Normandy Invaders Boys Basketball team. Your gameday enthusiasm was infectious and created an environment that fostered school spirit and Invader Pride. You truly are in a league of your own when it comes to announcing high school basketball games. The community has embraced you as one of their own. I can’t tell you the number of spectators that have sought me out to thank me for bringing you into our program. Your commentary and player nicknames have created an “event” atmosphere at Normandy home games. I appreciate the professional preparation that you brought to every game. I look forward to having you in this program for as long as I am here. Thanks again."

”On behalf of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization, I want to thank Ray for being our guest MC the second year in a row for the Cavaliers Cheerleading Competition. You have brought the event to life by drawing the fans into the competition with your jokes and suspense. Your presence is invaluable when it comes to keeping the event on schedule, which is critical due to NBA timelines. I thoroughly enjoyed working with you and look forward to working with you again!"

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude and commend DJ Ray for volunteering his time and effort to special-needs children at the 2009 Ohio State Challenger Tournament held in Parma on July 17, 2009. His interaction with the children was a great success and brought much joy and happiness to the participants of this tournament. DJ Ray’s performance was an enhancement to the three-day event and will be remembered forever in the minds of the Ohio Challenger baseball players. We thank DJ Ray for his generosity and kindness.”

“Thank you for an excellent evening of music. The dance floor was packed the entire evening—a tribute to the fine selection of songs that you, Annie and Tom picked out. And thank you for playing the father/daughter song—that was very important to us. Thanks again on behalf of the entire family and all of the guests!”

”Thanks so much for your excellent work at the Vermillion benefit. You really made the event come alive with your running commentary, contests and games, and your knowledge of music. As usual, you did a great job, and I will continue to use your services in future events.”

"I just want to take this opportunity to thank Ray for the Academy Award performance he put on at our Fourth Annual Al Gruss/Tony Dibiasio Early Bird Baseball Tournament. His sense of humor and short skits kept everyone in attendance on their toes and listening intensely to every word that came out of his mouth. His ability to keep the audience, of all ages young and old, involved was important to the success of our Tournament. He literally became one of the high points of the Tournament. He left all the baseball fans talking about the performance long after he had left. When you hire DJ Ray, you don't just get a deejay BUT an entire performance that keeps everyone at the event participating in all the activities that he provides.
Head Baseball Coach
"Ray has been our middle school football announcer for the past couple of years. Ray does an outstanding job as an announcer for the football program. He is very comfortable behind the microphone, and you can tell he has plenty of experience in this field. He does an excellent job of mixing music, play-by-plays and humor to entertain the spectators. I have heard nothing but high praise from the parents and coaches in regards to Ray's announcing. He keeps the audience involved by reading different trivia questions throughout the game. He also provides a prize to the spectator with the correct answer. I never have to worry if Ray will provide an entertaining game for everyone involved. He delivers every time."
Kurt S. Shoaff
Youth Athletics Manager
"Ray has been providing outstanding volleyball play-by-play game analysis and entertainment to spectators at Lakewood High School athletic events for past four years. Ray is a perfectionist, always arriving early to set up and to ensure that the evening runs smoothly. Ray is also dependable and will let me know in advance if he is unable to be at the match. Each year, spectators from the Lakewood community, as well as from opposing schools, compliment me on Ray's energetic, smooth, and often humorous commentary. I personally have never seen a better sports announcer than Ray, and am thrilled that we have such a talent at Lakewood. His abilities make our matches even more exciting."
